Ingrown hairs can be a pain, are you doing everything you can to prevent them? Ingrown hairs are caused when the end of the hairs get trapped beneath the skin. Ingrown hairs can become filled with puss and can also get infected so you want to do all you can to minimize any outbreaks. In order to get a handle on your ingrown hairs and keep them under control you have to follow a regimen, stick to it and you can't go wrong. Here are a few quick tips that can aid in the fight against ingrown hairs.
*Exfoliate the area. You want to start off exfoliating twice a week as we shed dead skin we need to exfoliate that skin away to help prevent hairs from getting trapped underneath the dead skin cells. If you find that two days is not enough add an extra day, but I would not exfoliate any more than three times per week. Now if your ingrown hairs are quite serious and they are getting unruly I would suggest exfoliating Twice a day, scrub the ingrown hair gently. This will help to remove any dead skin cells, dirt, and oils that might be trapping the ingrown hair. Once the ingrowns are at the surface and can be tweezed out go back to your regular 2 to 3 times per week regimen. There are a variety of exfoliants to use but I like using sugar scrubs and exfoliating gloves together. You get the best exfoliation.
*Ingrown Hair Serum can be an quick effective way to keep ingrown hairs at bay and also to dry up any existing bumping that might occur. Your serum can be purchased through your skincare professional. I personally think the serums that you buy in supply stores don't work. Talk to your skincare professional for what is best for your skin. Serums should be applied twice a day until the affected area is calm, ingrown hairs can be removed, and any bumping has healed.
* Apply a warm, moist compress to the area for a few minutes. This will soften the skin. Just wet a washcloth with hot water, wring it out, and press it against the ingrown hair. When the washcloth cools down, run it under hot water again. If you can see the ingrown hair embedded in the skin, this treatment will soften the hair and bring it closer to the surface. If you can't initially see the hair, leave the warm compress on until it rises to the skin's surface. If you apply the compress for ten minutes and you still can't see any sign of hair, you're not going to be able to remove it yourself.
